The Catawba Valley Lady Bucs traveled to Brunswick Community College on Friday, November 2nd for the first match of the NJCAA Region X/ District P Tournament. As the number 1 seed, CVCC faced 8th seeded Lenoir Community College for an 11:00 match. The Bucs came out strong and won the first set 25-13. Momentum continued into the second set for CVCC and they won 25-12. The Lenoir Lancers lost all hopes of an upset in the final set as the Lady Bucs of Catawba Valley dominated, winning 25-7. Leading in the kill category for the Bucs was Jenn Beatty with 13 kills for the match. Leah Wells contributed 8 kills, Kailey Russell added 7 kills and Megan Gouge and Ceci Brandon had 4 each. Ceci Brandon baffled the Lancer’s serve receive acing 5 for the match. Savannah Dellinger posted 3 aces for the match, Jennifer Beatty had 2 and Hannah Lewis and Leah Wells aced 1 each. Leah Wells led the blocking game for the Bucs with 2 block solos, Jennifer Beatty had 2 block assists and Ceci Brandon and Kailey Russell added 1 block assist each. Lacy Goodson posted 29 assists for the match. Hannah Lewis led the dig category with 14 for the match. Leah Wells posted 10 digs, Jennifer Beatty had 8, and Lacy Goodson added 7.

The Bucs advance to the semi-final round where they will face Pitt Community College at 10:00 on Saturday, November 3rd. The winner of the 10:00 match will compete in the championship match at 2:30 on Saturday. The Region X/ District P Champion will travel to Toledo, Ohio on November 15 – 17 to compete in the NJCAA Division II National Tournament.
