The Catawba Valley Community College Lady Buccaneers traveled to Toledo, Ohio to compete in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II National Volleyball Tournament on November 15-17. Number 14 seed Catawba Valley faced number 3 seed Parkland College for the first round 9:00 match. The Bucs came out strong and won the first set 25-23, making school history by winning a set at the National Tournament. The Bucs lost momentum in sets two and three and lost 25-18, 25-18. In the fourth set, the Cobras of Parkland College came out to an early lead, but the Bucs battled back at the end before dropping a close set and the match, 25-22. The Bucs offense was led by Jenn Beatty with 16 kills. Leah Wells contributed 8 kills, Kailey Russell had 7 kills with a .500 hitting percentage, and Ceci Brandon added 5 kills. Jenn Beatty also led the serving game with 3 aces for the match. Ceci Brandon and Leah Wells each aced 1. Kailey Russell and Ceci Brandon each put up 1.5 total blocks and Megan Gouge added 2 block assists. Lacy Goodson had 34 assists for the match. The Parkland Cobras offense kept the Bucs defense on their toes, and Hannah Lewis led the way in digs, posting 25 for the match. Jennifer Beatty had 20 digs, Leah Wells added 15 and Lacy Goodson posted 12.

Catawba Valley will compete against Moraine Valley Community College in the 10:00 match on Friday, November 16th. The winner of the 10:00 match will play again at 4:30 on Friday afternoon.
