CVCC Buccaneers Women’s Basketball team won a tough defensive battle, 48-43, with visiting Montreat College Cavaliers JV team. The Buccaneers were lead by freshman Anika Jones with 16 points and 5 rebounds. While freshman Jillyan Murray added 8 to the battle. Freshman Kadesha Gibbs added 11 rebounds and 5 steals in the win.

The Buccaneers jumped out to a quick 10-2 lead in the first 7 minutes but the Cavaliers rallied back into the game to tie it up at 16-16 with 9 minutes left, but the Bucs went on an 11-5 run to head into the locker room with a 27-21 lead. The Cavaliers opened the second half with a rally that saw the game knotted at 31, four minutes into the half. But the Bucs responded with defense and only allowed 12 more points for the rest of the game to win.

The Buccaneers Women’s Basketball team now stands at 5-0 on the season with another home game tomorrow, Tuesday, November 20th against Thomasville Prep at 7:00pm in the Tarlton Complex.
