The Buccaneers Men’s Basketball team ran away with a 104-67 win over the visiting Eagles from Rockingham CC. The Bucs saw 5 players score in double figures. Freshman Josh McClain and Sophomore Terrance Polk scored 24 points, while Sophomore Anthony Hilliard scored 19 points. Freshman Rashawn Edwards and Sophomore Preston Earle scored 11 and 10 respectively. Polk and Freshman Cameron Redd led the team grabbing 8 rebounds a piece.
The Bucs jumped on the Eagles 23-5 to start the game and kept the pressure on. The closest the Eagles could manage was 7 points with 9 minutes left in the first half. The Bucs went on a run after that and never looked back. The Bucs finished the first half with a 45-29 point lead. The Bucs continued on the offensive streak to outscore the Eagles 59-38 in the second half to win 104-67. The Bucs defense applied intense pressure on the Eagles forcing 30 turnovers and racking up 22 steals with Hilliard with 7.
The Bucs are on a 3 game home winning streak and sit at a 14-7 overall record with a 4-3 conference record. The Bucs will play on the road Friday and Saturday against Lenoir CC and Pitt CC respectively. They will return home on Wednesday, February 6th to play Guilford Tech at 7:00pm.

The Buccaneers Men’s Basketball ball team rallied in the second half to tie the game to come up just short in the OT and lose to the #1 Louisburg College Hurricanes 96-90. The Bucs were led by Sophomores Anthony Hilliard and Preston Earle who scored a combined 47 points with Hilliard scoring 26 and Earle with 21. Freshman Josh McClain added 12 points in the effort while Freshman Rashawn Edwards grabbed 12 boards.
The Bucs were trailing the Hurricanes 39-44 after the first half but rallied in the second half outscoring the Hurricanes 45-38 in the second half to tie the game at 84 at the end of regulation. The overtime period saw action back and forth but after a Bucs turnover the Hurricanes were able to score 4 straight free throws that locked up the game for the Hurricanes.
The Bucs are now 13-7 on the season with a 3-3 conference record. The Bucs will return home this Tuesday, January 29th to take on Rockingham CC at 7:00pm.
The Women’s Basketball game on Sunday, January 27 against Lenoir CC has been postponed due to weather. The game will be made up with the date and time to be announced. The next game for the #14 Women’s Basketball team will be Friday, February 1, at 6:00 pm against Patrick Henry CC at the Tarlton Complex in Hickory, NC.
The #14 Buccaneers Women’s Basketball team rolled to a 64-44 win over the visiting Titans from Guilford Tech. The Bucs were led by freshman Gabrielle McClain who posted a double double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Anika Jones added 12 points to the winning effort. Sophomores Matrice Sweezy and Stephanie Cabral dished out 4 assists, while Sweezy poured in 9 points and 5 steals. Cabral grabbed 5 rebounds and played a strong defensive roll in the win by taking 4 charges in the game.
The Bucs defense frustrated the Titans offense in the first half outscoring the Titans 37-11 in the first half. The Bucs forced 15 first half turnovers and 27 overall for the Titans who could never cut into the lead the Bucs rushed out to.
The Bucs are now 20-0 overall and are 6-0 in the conference. The Bucs will play their next game at home game against Lenoir CC on Sunday at 2:00pm.
