#18 Women’s Basketball Easily Disposes of #11 Patrick Henry CC
In a conference and top 20 match-up the Bucs Women’s Basketball team went on the road and dominated #11 ranked Patrick Henry CC. The Bucs took the final 91-53 for their 17th straight win and third conference win of the season. The Bucs were led by freshman Anika Jones who poured in a career high 40 points for the Bucs. Sophomore Matrice Sweezy recorded a double double in the game scouring 16 points and dishing out 12 assists in the winning effort. Sweezy also has a game high 6 steals and added 7 rebounds. Freshman Kadesha Gibbs also scored in double digits with 10 points, while sophomore Stephanie Cabral led the team with 8 rebounds.
The Bucs were poised for their first top 20 match-up in program history and came out firing in the first half. The Bucs outscored Patrick Henry 43-22 with Jones scoring 23 of her 40 points in the first half. Patrick Henry closed the gap a little but the high paced offense and suffocating defense proved too much and the Bucs outscored Patrick Henry 48-31 in the second half for the 91-53 win.
The #18 Bucs will return home for a game on Friday at 5:00pm against Brunswick CC and then will play the 2nd game in a double header on Saturday with the Men’s team. The Bucs are 17-0 on the season and are 3-0 in the Carolinas Virginia Conference.
