Men’s Basketball Gets Conference OT Win
The Bucs men’s basketball team took a close 71-69 overtime victory over the visiting Patriots from Patrick Henry CC. The Bucs were led by Anthony Hilliard who dropped 21 points and Terrance Polk who scored a double double with a season high 22 rebounds and 14 points. Polk also added 4 blocks in the winning effort. Josh McClain also scored in double digits with 13 points.
The Bucs were trailing the game with at half by 25-35, but in the second half they slowly dwindles down the lead and took the lead with 30 seconds left in the game. The Bucs were up by 3 points with 10 seconds left, the Patriots were able to hit a 3 pointer at the buzzer to send the game into overtime. In overtime, the Patriots struck first but the Bucs battled back and took the lead with 3 minutes left and they never surrendered. The Patriots had a chance at the end of the game but the Bucs defense did not break and forced a half court shot to fall just short.
The Bucs are now 13-6 on the season and 3-2 in the conference. This is a 3 game conference winning streak to help the Bucs get over .500 in conference games. The Bucs will travel to #1 Louisburg College on Saturday and will return home on Tuesday, January 29th to take on Rockingham CC at 7:00pm.
