The Buccaneers Men’s basketball team lost a close battle with Pitt CC 87-92 this Saturday afternoon in Greenville, NC. The Bucs were led by freshman Rashawn Edwards who dropped 20 points and added 9 rebounds in the effort. Sophomore Anthony Hilliard added 16 points of his own.
The Buccaneers are now 15-8 on the season and sit at 5-4 in conference action. The Bucs will head back home to battle with Guilford Tech in the Tarlton Complex on Wednesday, February 6th at 7:00pm.
The #14 Buccaneers Women’s basketball team won their 7 straight conference game with a 70-49 win over the visiting Patriots from Patrick Henry CC. The Bucs were led by Freshman Gabrielle McClain who had 22 points and Freshman Anika Jones added 18 going 10-11 from the charity stripe in the winning effort. Sophomore Matrice Sweezy scored 11 and added 5 assists and 5 steals. Freshman Kadesha Gibbs grabbed a team high 9 rebounds while sophomore Stephanie Cabral added 8 more boards to the win.
The Bucs led 30 to 23 going into the first half but in the first 7 minutes of the second half the Patriots pulled back to be down 36-38 but in the last 13 minutes the Bucs offense exploded with 32 points and holding the Patriots offense to just 13 points.
The #14 Bucs sit at 21-0 and 7-0 in conference play. The Bucs will play their next game at home against Lenoir CC on Sunday, February 3rd, a make up from the game which was cancelled last Sunday, January 27.
The Buccaneers Men’s Basketball team defeated the Lancers of Lenoir CC 75-71 Friday night. The Bucs were led by Sophomore Anthony Hilliard who poured in 19 points. Freshman Josh McClain and Rashawn Edwards had 16 and 12 points respectively. Sophomore Jalen Cannady came off the bench and sparked the Bucs with a double double of 12 points and 10 rebounds.
The Bucs have improved to a 15-7 overall record and is now 5-3 in the conference. The Bucs are on the road today at Pitt CC and will return home to play Guilfrod Tech on Wednesday, February 6 at 7:00pm in the Tarlton Complex.
