The Buccaneers women’s basketball team wins a thriller 69-47 over the Lancers of Lenoir CC. The Bucs were led by Freshman Gabrielle McClain who posted a double double with game highs in both points, 19, and rebounds, 13, along with posting 6 blocks in the winning effort. Freshman Anika Jones dropped 18 points and sophomore Matrice Sweezy scored 14 and added 4 assists. Freshman Kadesha Gibbs grabbed 12 rebounds and dished out 4 assists in the winning effort.

The Bucs walked into the locker room at half with a 29-28 lead but saw the Lancers stay close in the second half and saw their lead disappear with 10 minutes to go in the game with the Lancers having a 40-39 point lead. The Bucs locked down on defense only allowing 7 more points to the Lancers for the rest of the game while the Bucs offense exploded almost doubling their points in the first 30 minutes of the game and scoring 20 in the last 10 minutes clinching the 69-47 conference win.

The Bucs will play their next game on Saturday, February 9 at Wake Tech in Raleigh, NC and will return home for their last home game of the season on Saturday, February 16 against #1 ranked Louisburg College in the Tarlton Complex at 3:00.
