The Buccaneers Women’s Basketball team took down #8 Louisburg College at Louisburg 78-75 to complete the season a perfect 28-0 and 14-0 in conference. The Bucs were led by Anika Jones who poured 21 points and added 8 rebounds. Freshman Kadesha Gibbs posted a double double with 17 points and 14 boards. Freshman Jillyan Murray and Sophomore Matrice Sweezy also posted double digit scores with 14 and 13 respectively. Sophomore Samiya Pitts dished out 8 assists in the win.

The Bucs went into the half up 40-39 thanks to a half court shot by Sweezy that fell as the buzzer went off. The Bucs maintained the lead for the rest of the second half. Head Coach Tommy Edwards said, “I am very proud of the way our players played and they worked hard to make this a special season. I hope the success carries over into the tournament.” With the win Catawba Valley CC is outright regular season Conference Champions. and will be the #1 seed in next weeks conference tournament with the winner of the tournament advancing to East Peoria, Illinois for the NJCAA Division II National Championship.
