Fans were treated to a high-scoring affair Friday as the Catawba Valley Community College Buccaneers outscored Surry CC 16-8 in eight innings.

The teams totaled 21 hits, including eight extra base hits in the game.

Eight runs in the first three innings helped the Catawba Valley Community College Buccaneers blow out Surry CC. An RBI double by Derek Deaton, a passed ball, a walk by Ryan Mayberry, a walk by Ryan Smith, a three-run triple by William Little, and a passed ball during the second inning fueled the Catawba Valley Community College Buccaneers’ offense early.

Little racked up five RBIs on two hits for the Catawba Valley Community College Buccaneers.

Robert Whaley recorded the win for the Catawba Valley Community College Buccaneers. He allowed four runs over 4 2/3 innings. He struck out four, walked four and surrendered five hits.
