Fourth Straight Year: ’06, ’07, ’08, … and 2009!

Catawba Valley Community College Buccaneers  defended their 2007-2008 Region X Championship title with wins against Caldwell and Davidson Community Colleges.  The CVCC Buccaneers defeated Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute with a final score of 75-73. The Buccaneers then went on to beat Davidson County Community College with a final score of 93-92 with Alex Wilson scoring the winning basket in the final seconds of both games.

Team standouts in the Davidson game were Alex Wilson with 29 points, 7 assists and 7 steals, and Anthony Barringer and Brian Franklin with 17 and 16 points respectively.

As 2008-2009 Region X Champions, the team will travel to Pittsburgh, PA to play in the NJCAA III District Championship game on March 7, 2009.

“Although our Buccaneers had won three straight Region Titles, this year our opponents underrated us to their chagrin.  CVCC maintained their composure and confidence under the toughest of competition to come out on top.
