HICKORY, N.C. — The Catawba Valley Community College Athletic Department has released its academic honors for the fall 2018 semester.
A total of 24 student-athletes have been named to the President's List for achieving a 3.75 GPA or higher. Of those 24 student-athletes, 18 of them achieved a 4.0 grade point average.
Included in the President's List are nine baseball players (seven with 4.0 GPA), seven volleyball players (six with a 4.0 GPA), six women's basketball players (four with a 4.0 GPA) and two men's basketball players (one with a 4.0 GPA).
Overall, Catawba Valley Community College student athletes posted a 3.126 GPA for the fall 2018 semester.
"I am so excited about the academic achievements of our student-athletes," said Catawba Valley Athletic Director Nick Schroeder. "To post an average GPA of 3.126 is truly a sign of the hard work and dedication of our student-athletes and academic support staff. Tisha England, Kris Harvey, Jerry Sain and Tim Peeler have put in countless hours to make sure our student-athletes are set up for success in the classroom, and CVCC's faculty continue to be one of the strongest and most supportive factors for all students achieving high academic success."
Also receiving honors are 22 student-athletes who were named to the Athletic Director's List, which is for those student athletes who achieved a 3.74 to 3.2 GPA.
Overall, 19 baseball players, 14 volleyball players, eight women's basketball players and five men's basketball players received academic awards for the fall.
