HICKORY, N.C. — The Catawba Valley Community College baseball program has released its 2018 fall schedule.
The Red Hawks open their fall slate with a round-robin event on Saturday, Sept. 29 against Dry Pond Blue Sox and Heat Baseball. Catawba Valley plays Dry Pond at 2 p.m. and faces the Heat at 7 p.m. Dry Pond and Heat Baseball will also play at 4:30 p.m. during the event.
The 2018 fall schedule for the Red Hawks includes road games against Gardner-Webb University in Shelby, N.C. on Oct. 6, versus Bodyshop Baseball in Lexington, S.C. on Oct. 10 and against Erskine University in Due West, S.C. on Oct. 13.
The cross-town rivalry between Catawba Valley Community College and Lenoir-Rhyne University will also take place once again this fall when the Red Hawks travel to face the Bears in a doubleheader on Friday, Oct. 19.
Catawba Valley concludes its fall season with its annual Alumni Day, which pits former Red Hawk players against current members of the squad, and the program's World Series, which divides its current roster into two teams drafted by captains.
Alumni Day is Saturday, Oct. 27, while the World Series is Monday, Oct. 29 and Tuesday, Oct. 30. The World Series is a best-of-three format.
