Red Hawks move up to No. 17 in latest poll

HICKORY, N.C. — The Catawba Valley Community College women's basketball team moved up one spot in the latest National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II poll.

The poll, which was released on Tuesday, is the third-straight that the Red Hawks have been ranked inside the top-20 teams in the country.

Catawba Valley, which is 14-4 overall and 9-1 in conference play, played just one game last week, but earned a decisive 100-56 victory against Clinton Community College during a CVCC basketball doubleheader on Saturday.

It was the second game this season that the Red Hawks had scored at least 100 points in a game.

The CVCC women's basketball team returns to action on Thursday with a road conference game against Patrick Henry Community College in Martinsville, Va. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.

The next home game at the Tarlton Complex for the Red Hawks is on Saturday at 1 p.m. against Fayetteville Tech.
