Red Hawks women’s hoops signs Raptors’ Stewart

MT. HOLLY, N.C. — The Catawba Valley Community College women's basketball program announces this signing of former Mountain Island Charter standout Allana Stewart.

"Signing a good character kid is always a plus, but to have a kid to sit out a year just to be a part of your program speaks volume," said CVCC women's basketball coach Tisha England. "Allana is going to add experience and rebounding along with hustle to our team. We welcome her to the Lady Red Hawk Family."

The 5-foot-8 guard averaged 13.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.5 steals, 2.0 assists and 0.5 blocks for the Raptors during her senior season in 2016-17.

Behind Stewart, Mountain Island Charter won 19 games, including 14 in Southern Piedmont 1A conference play.

Following her time at Mountain Island Charter, Stewart signed with Belmont Abbey College and spent the 2017-18 season with the Crusaders before sitting out this past season.

Stewart joins a Red Hawks women's basketball team that went 24-6 overall last season, including 17-3 in Region 10 games — claiming the school's second-ever regular season conference title.
