Red Hawks sign Virginia product Siena Naotala

HICKORY, N.C. — The Catawba Valley Community College women's volleyball program has announced the addition of Siena Naotala to its 2018-19 recruiting class.

Naotala comes to the Red Hawks from Menchville High School in Newport News, Va.

"What an exciting late addition Siena is," said CVCC head volleyball coach Shannon Hudson. "She's an all-around great athlete who I believe will make an immediate impact this fall. Her strength, versatility and commanding presence at the net are tremendous assets that Siena brings to the program."

During her time at Menchville, the 5-foot-10 Naotala was named first team all-district and all-conference and a second team all-state selection in the Division 5A ranks.

Naotala played both middle hitter and outside hitter for the Monarchs, leading them to a 16-8 overall record.

Naotala joins an incoming recruiting class for the Red Hawks, which includes Alexander Central's Chesney Millsaps, Kelsea Dejarnette and Sage Harrington, Butler's Alli Dowe, Fred T. Foard's Jayln Rice, First Assembly Christian's Anna Clarke, North Buncombe's Bre Myers, North Henderson's Zoe Phillips, North Iredell's Meredith Patterson, North Surry's Paige Sizemore, St. Stephens' Madison Bolch, Watauga's Emma Clark, West Iredell's Macy Pope, West Stokes' Abigail Gordon and Rachel Delcamp, Willamette's (Ore.) Sophie Brennan and West Virginia Tech transfer Lauren McCall.

The Red Hawks are coming off a 28-9 overall record and 15-0 mark in Region X play last fall — winning their sixth-straight regulars conference championship.
