 Megan Fair joined the University of Tennessee at Martin Skyhawks as an NJCAA All-American out of powerhouse Catawba Valley, located in Hickory, NC.  She helped the Redhawks to a historical run over the last two seasons under head coach Shannon Hudson, earning back-to-back Region X Player of the Year accolades while helping her team to a 76-20 record – including an unblemished 33-0 mark in conference play.  Megan was part of a 2016 team that advanced to the Final Four of the NJCAA Tournament for the first time in school history, chalking up a program record 41 victories along the way.  Megan led the squad with 507 kills (3.55 per set) while also sporting a .290 attack percentage, 46 service aces, 421 digs and 45 blocks  She had 26 matches where she piled up double-digit kills, including four matches with 20 or more putaway.  Season-high of 23 kills came against Colorado Northwestern on Sept. 9  She hit .333 or better in 24 different matches and recorded 12 double-doubles, establishing a season-high with 19 digs on two different occasions.  Megan had seven service aces in just three sets against Northern Virginia on Sept. 16. 

Megan was also one of the Redhawks’ best players as a freshman, registering 579 kills (more than twice as many as any other teammate) and 3.62 kills per set, which was the seventh-highest total in the country.  She hit .245 with 47 service aces, 594 digs and 43 blocks in 2015 and amassed double-digits in the kill column in 32 different matches, eclipsing the 20-kill mark on five occasions.  She hit at least .333 in 17 matches, including a 14-kill, zero-error performance (.636 in 22 swings) against LaGrange on Oct. 13.  Megan racked up a career-best 28 kills in just four sets in a win over Cape Fear on Sept. 4 and was responsible for 26 double-doubles, scooping up a career-best 25 kills in a four-set victory over Mott on Aug. 28.

Megan attended Bunker Hill High School, where she played for head coach Kelsey Dettman  She was a three-time all-conference honoree and 2014 Conference Player of the Year for the Lady Bears, capping off her senior campaign with a 21-7 record and the best finish in school history with a regional playoff appearance.  Megan piled up 373 kills, 640 digs and 97 blocks as a senior, shattering the program records for kills per set and digs per set.

“Megan brings a lot of success and experience to the court and has the ability to stabilize the people around her with her stoic demeanor,” UT Head Coach Yocum said. “Megan finds a way to score based on the set she is given and the positioning of the defense. She is a strong six-rotation outside with a high volleyball IQ.”
