Volleyball Unable to Hold Off UNCA Bulldogs' Attack (Video)

CULLOWHEE, N.C. — The Catawba Valley Community College volleyball team hit the road this past Saturday to play its final matches of the spring against UNC Asheville, Catawba College and host Western Carolina University. The extremely young Red Hawks squad of 10 rising sophomores and three incoming freshmen played well, losing in two sets (23-25, 18-25) to the weekends dominate team — UNC Asheville. The Red Hawks managed to split sets with Catawba and Western Carolina.

Leading the charge on offense for CVCC against UNC Asvheille was First team All-American Emma Clark with seven kills on 13 attacks. Meredith Patterson and Sage Harrington added to the kill total with four each.

Macy Pope and Dulaney Stoney contributed with one ace each. 

Defensively in the blocking category, Sage Harrington recorded one block solo and one block assist. Keeping the ball in play in the backcourt, Bre Myers led the Hawks with seven digs. 

Meredith Patterson and Abigail Gordon led the serve recieve team in passing both earned a 2.25 SR rating.
