Head Coach Shannon Hudson
Coach Shannon Hudson begins her third season at Catawba Valley. In her first season at the helm, Coach Hudson received the District P Volleyball Division II Coach of the Year, and led her team to the NJCAA Division II National Tournament.
Overall, Hudson has a cumulative record of 46-14 with the Lady. Since coming to CVCC, Coach Hudson has added a spring season to the schedule. Hudson also coached five all-conference performers and a Region X Player of the Year. In addition, Hudson’s program attained a 3.0 overall team grade point average.
Coach Hudson earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Gardner-Webb University in 2001 at age 19. She is married with three beautiful children and resides in Lenoir, NC.

Assistant Coach: Mark Wimberley
Mark Wimberley was recently named the new assistant coach with Catawba Valley Community College’s Lady Buccaneers volleyball team. Wimberley comes from a diverse background before joining the Lady Bucs. After obtaining an associate’s degree in forestry from Wayne Community College he was employed by the North Carolina Forest Service and subsequently retired after 28 years of service. Wimberley’s coaching experience comes from the Junior Olympic level where he has coached for 4 years, the last 3 in the 18 year old and under bracket. Coach Wimberley’s JO teams managed to always do well in their brackets, just this past season they finished with 3 silver medals in 6 tournaments. Out of 18 tournaments coached in 4 years, Wimberley’s teams had 9 playoff finishes with a total of 5 silvers and a gold medal for their efforts.
Team Manager: Darla Skidmore
Darla Skidmore, a student and former volleyball player at CVCC, begins her first season as part of the 2011 coaching staff. During her 2009 season as a lady Buc, Darla helped guide the team to Conference, Regional and District titles. The team traveled to Wisconsin to compete in the 2009 National Tournament where they were named 16th in the nation. Her 2010 season, the Lady Bucs received the title of Western Division Conference Champions. Darla is studying to earn her associates degree in Entrepreneurship at Catawba Valley.
