Baseball Splits Doubleheader with Bryant & Stratton

Game 1: Late-Inning Heartbreak for CVCC

The Catawba Valley Red Hawks dropped a tough opener to Bryant & Stratton, falling 4–3 in 10 innings after surrendering the go‑ahead run on a sacrifice bunt.

CVCC battled throughout, first drawing even in the bottom of the third when Pierce Bouwman drove in a run on a groundout and Sylas Mills followed with an RBI single. After the Bobcats moved back in front in the seventh, Brody Taylor delivered a clutch solo home run to left, tying the game once again.

Cooper Bliss was strong in relief despite taking the loss, working four innings and allowing two runs (one earned) on just two hits with five strikeouts and no walks. Tony Lopez started the game, striking out six over three innings while giving up two runs.

Offensively, Drew Berenyi paced the Red Hawks with two hits in five at-bats, while Bouwman, Mills, and Taylor each pushed across a run.

Game 2: Brewer's Grand Slam Powers Red Hawks to a 5–3 Win

Catawba Valley bounced back in game two, surging to a 5–3 victory behind a momentum-shifting sixth inning and a standout performance from Tanner Brewer.

Brewer delivered the game's biggest swing—a grand slam to right field—that capped a five‑run rally and flipped a 3–0 deficit into a 5–3 Red Hawks lead. His two hits and four RBIs led the offensive charge.

On the mound, Riley Campbell earned the win with four strong innings, surrendering just two hits and one unearned run while striking out four. Starter Pierce Bouwman worked the first three frames, allowing two runs on three hits.

The Red Hawks showed patience at the plate, drawing eight walks in the contest. Drew Berenyi and Matthew Perez each reached twice via free passes.
