Red Hawk men’s basketball wins Region 10 opener

LOUISBURG, N.C. — The Catawba Valley Community College men's basketball team won its Region 10 opener on the road Saturday, defeating Louisburg 100-93 at the Roger Taylor Arena.

KJ Burke led the Red Hawks (3-3, 1-0 in Region 10) with 16 points — one of six Catawba Valley players who reached double figures in scoring, including four of the team's starters. Bryson Bowman and Nakeem Isaac added 14 points each for CVCC.

The Red Hawks took a 63-51 halftime lead powered by 10 points from Caden Caskey and Josh Moore.

Catawba Valley held off a second-half charge by Louisburg to come away with the seven-point conference win.

The CVCC men's basketball team returns to action on Wednesday for a road non-conference showdown with rival Caldwell. Tip off is set for 7 p.m. in Hudson.
