Floystad’s late lay up pushes Red Hawks past Trojans

HICKORY, N.C. — For the second-straight day and game, the Catawba Valley Community College men's basketball team earned a last-second win on Saturday — this time an 87-86 victory against Fayetteville Tech at the Tarlton Complex.

Forward Trent Floystad scored a lay up on a pass from Jordan Lineberger with 0.4 seconds left, lifting the Red Hawks (7-7, 4-3 in Region 10) to the two-point conference win against the Trojans. 

Floystad scored a team-high 14 points, TJay Mills added 13 points and Josh Moore scored 12 points.

CVCC trailed 42-37 at halftime, but rallied behind Floystad's nine second-half points (5-of-6 made free throws) to complete the conference comeback. 

The Catawba Valley Community College men's basketball team returns to action on Friday, Jan. 2 for a road conference contest at Bryant & Stratton (Va.). Tip off is set for 7 p.m. in Virginia Beach.
