Red Hawks beat Hurricanes, earn record 11th straight win

HICKORY, N.C. — The Catawba Valley Community College men's basketball team made program history on Monday night with a 108-90 conference victory against Louisburg.

The win marks the team's 11th straight, which breaks the program record set during the 2019-20 season.

TJay Mills led CVCC (18-10, 14-6 in Region 10) with a team-high 23 points, while KJ Burke added 20 points of the bench. Bryson Bowman (19 points) and Caden Caskey (15 points) also reached double figures in scoring for Catawba Valley.

The Red Hawks were tied 44-44 at halftime against the Hurricanes, but used a 25-9 run early in the second half to pull away in the contest.

The Catawba Valley Community College men's basketball team returns to action on Wednesday for a pivotal road conference contest against Davidson-Davie. Tip off is set for 7 p.m. in Thomasville.
